Summer Garden Party
What a lovely afternoon we had. The weather was kind to us, although it was a bit worrying when I was mowing the lawn the afternoon before and it started to rain!! The family helped me put up the gazebo on Tuesday evening and Sue arrived on Wednesday morning (bringing home made scones) to help with the bunting, putting out the chairs and wrapping the raffle prizes.
It was lovely to see so many of you, and to welcome back some of our ladies who had not been able to join us for a little while.
We had an afternoon of friendly, relaxing chat and a lovely cream tea. Scones with jam and cream followed by a fresh cuppa is always a welcome combination. We discussed some of our past projects and some ideas for future meetings. We even had a raffle where everyone is a winner ! The neighbours cat joined us - ever hopeful of a sweet morsel - but went away disappointed.
We made a little display of the samples for next months project (not usually like us to be so organised so far in advance) and we could then discuss the possibilities and expand your ideas.
So all in all, a really lovely afternoon. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and will let me know if this is an 'event' that you would like to repeat next year, or if you would like to see anything else included in the time we have available. We are limited by the parking restrictions in the road outside of my house so we cant start any earlier, unfortunately.
Thank you to all of you who came. I know some of you travel quite a long way to get to us so your company was really appreciated. Those of you who couldn't come were missed, but we look forward to seeing you all at the next meeting.
See you all in September
As a footnote - we did have a lovely chatty time, something we don't always have time for on our Saturdays. Thank you Ann too for the use of your garden and to the men of the family who put up the gazebo. Sue
